Starting off the summer right with a rad session at The Rock.
Summer just started and no better way to kick it off than with a rad switchbacks sess on Mother’s Day. Thanks for being so rad Mom!

Just for you Mom, I learned switch backside checks. Thanks for supporting my skating and pretending to like the videos and pictures. You’re the best & I love you!
Thanks to Kavon for knocking out a pro edit in one day, such a boss. So proud to have been a part of this event. Thanks to all the sponsors that made sure all the skaters walked away with rad swag. The weather wasn’t perfect, but it couldn’t have gone any better. We are a family and have to take care of each other. This event was the best possible example of that. People drove over 10+ hrs to a secret location in Oklahoma for some dope racing this past weekend. We miss you Jason, hope to have you back in our state soon. Love you homie.
After riding both sets of the new REY trucks I thought it was time to break down the differences between the two killer, Michigan made, affordable precision trucks.
We’ll start with how the two are setup for context of this review. Both have 45º basplates (one is the new REYvolver baseplate), 170mm hangers, 10mm axels, flat precision washers and barrel Venom bushings (80a roadside/88a boardside).
Next lets talk weight. Some people like more weight carrying them down the hill, while others are looking to keep their truck setup as light as possible. Weight breakdowns:
LiteREY hanger: 270g + LiteREY baseplate: 220g = 490g
DeathREY hanger: 258g + REYvolver baseplate: 156g = 314g
That’s a difference of 176 grams, which isn’t a lot, but if you are looking for any way to take weight off the DeathREY and REYvolver combination is much lighter than the LiteREY.
The weight was shaved off the hanger by cutting holes in it as well as taking off edges around the hanger. Also the DeathREY is not as wide or tall. You’ll notice that the axels on the DeathREY are higher and therefore closer to the baseplate giving them a lower profile. The bushing seats are also different. The LiteREY has a wider opening for mean lean, while the DeathREY has a narrower opening for more stability and a bit less turn.
When comparing the baseplates you can see a few changes right away. Again it is lower all the way around. Material was shaved away creating a larger opening between the pivot cup and kingpin. The new REYvolver also has more wheel base options and the most striking feature is that it looks like a revolver. REY has taken CNC cutting to an art form.
What does this all add up to? Depending on what type of riding you do REY has something to offer. Their new DeathREY hanger in combination with the REYvolver baseplate is super light and a fantastic combination for going fast. The LiteREY is also a great truck with mean lean but a bit beefier. They do not cut corners with quality or craftsmanship, only price. They want every rider to be able to ride their product, not just for wealthy and sponsored. With the Marble Outlaw coming up we decided to film a little promo vid. It was a really fast day with a nice tailwind. Take a run with BC Longboards teammates: Jason Machado, Josh Hughes & Kyle Ramsey & BS homie Kavon Zamanian. Speeds for the day were in the upper 40’s and low 50’s. Prepare yourself for some fast gnarly racing. The corners are deceiving so taking a sick line is going to be key as well as drafting. Get stoked! Thanks for all the sponsors that have stepped forward to help us out on a short notice. Thanks to Kavon Zamanian and Gerrit Hoover for filming, driving and skating.

New lid came in this week. Huge thanks to REY Trucks for helping out with getting all their riders new helmets with custom REY decals. Make sure to check their new online store where you can find this T8 helmet as well as their new precision washers and sick line-up of affordable precision trucks.
Today was more fun than usual at a local spot. With close to 20mph tail winds and rain on and off it made for some patchy pavement. The corner that is usually all grip was fun with a tiny predrift. Core Low Life.

So stoked on getting in my first publication, it also happens to be a rad-as German mag, 40inch Longboard Magazine. They don’t ship to the U.S. and were kind enough to send me one anyways for free! Huge thanks to REY Trucks for using one of Erick Barrandey’s sick photos from a local night race. I’m also riding the BC Longboards Torpedo. Make sure to go check them out, a whole new lineup for 2013.
2012 was an epic year for the Oklahoma longboard scene, quite a few local races and many, many skate trips. We don’t have many long and fast local spots so we travel deep into NoCoast territory to find faster runs. Episode 2 focus’ on our travels , ending with our trip to Buffalo Bill Downhill. Our sponsors make these trips possible, thanks to www.bclongboards.com, www.coreextremesports.com, www.reytrucks.com, asl, metro wheels, www.bombsquadlongboarding.com, www.buckskatetrucks.com, www.krlongboarding.tumblr.com
Go skate!
With over 50 edits this past year from KR media, it was hard to narrow it down, so much rad skating this year. There will be two episodes, this one showcases some of our favorite Oklahoma spots and some of the local racing that went down this year. Thanks to all the sponsors that helped out at events and kept rad equipment under our feet. Stoked for 2013!

A chill day of pack riding with the BC Longboards Downhill crew and our rad Stilli homies. Not a really fast run, but with a lot of cracks and a killer tail wind, it made for some hectic runs.
