Summer just started and no better way to kick it off than with a rad switchbacks sess on Mother’s Day. Thanks for being so rad Mom!

Just for you Mom, I learned switch backside checks. Thanks for supporting my skating and pretending to like the videos and pictures. You’re the best & I love you!
Deep into NoCoast territory a race was held in honor of our brother Jason. About 40 riders from five different states got together and raced in the rain. For a full race report including rad photos check it out on Thane Magazine:

The entry fees were donated to Jason and all the riders walked away with swag thanks to our sponsors: REY Trucks, BC Longboards, Bombsquad, Skate[Slate], Magic Bearings, Madrid, Venom, Riptide, PSD Footstops, Erick Barrandey Photography, Palo Duro Longboards and Jati Longboards.
Thanks to Kavon for knocking out a pro edit in one day, such a boss. So proud to have been a part of this event. Thanks to all the sponsors that made sure all the skaters walked away with rad swag. The weather wasn’t perfect, but it couldn’t have gone any better. We are a family and have to take care of each other. This event was the best possible example of that. People drove over 10+ hrs to a secret location in Oklahoma for some dope racing this past weekend. We miss you Jason, hope to have you back in our state soon. Love you homie.
Sick last run with some homies after the race. No gloves. No problem I have a cold beer to keep me safe.
Thank you to everyone who came out and raced this weekend at the Machado Classic. It was so epic. Erick Barrandey Photo.

The fastest outlaw to date is coming up this weekend in Oklahoma. It is an invite only event with rippers driving in from out of state. Part of the entry fees are going to Jason who was seriously injured during the filming of the promo. Jason Machado is always charging so hard, this run is just an example of that. Kavon busted out an insanely sick edit tracking Jason’s speed down the run (link at the bottom). We were all hitting mid to upper 40’s when Jason decided to do a run by himself. I have him the GPS and he pulled a 50.3mph run. The fastest section being the third turn (a lefty). He is ripping on the new BC Longboards Torpedo. Props to GHoov for ripping as the follow driver.

Two weeks ago my best friend Jason Machado was in a terrible accident while we were filming the promo for our Marble Outlaw. For the respect of him and his family I hadn’t posted anything about it.
Easter Sunday:
We were using spotters all day as well as the riders having a walkie talkie on us so we can hear if a car was coming up the run. After gettting multiple follow runs we picked up our spotter and decided to take another run with everyone. Jason and I were skating with the dslr. I passed it to him halfway down the run. When we got to Marble Corner (one in which you exit far into the other lane) I was out front and saw a car coming in the other lane. I threw a predrift to stay in my lane. Jason wasn’t able to react soon enough and hit the car head on at 45mph. Jason is a seasoned rider and the last person I thought this would happen to. He suffered a broken femur, pelvis, broke most of the ribs on his left side and had a bad concussion. He had to be flown out by helicopter and is now recovering in a local hospital.
Skating all of the sudden became very serious that day. I’ll never forget the sound of the car hitting a person that hard. We were blessed to have an RN there skating with us, one of our other best friends. He was able to stabilize him until EMS got there. Without him I don’t know how we would’ve helped.
Jason brought his rad surfing style to Oklahoma and is largely responsible for where the Oklahoma skate scene is. OG gets thrown around a lot these days, but if there is a rad spot in Oklahoma, this dude was one of the first to hit it. Everyone loves skating with this dude, he makes you rider better and push your self further. Whether he ever wants to get on a board and go fast or just chill at skate parks won’t matter to us, we are just stoked that he made it through this accident.
What was a rad day of skating and filming quickly turned into a worst case scenario. So far all signs point to Jason being able to make a full recovery. However it is going to be a long road and he can use all the positive thoughts you can send his way. If you feel the need to donate money to what will be a laundry list of medical bills, his sponsor BC Longboards has set up a page where you can donate to help make it a little easier on him (Pay Pal link at the bottom). We have also turned the Marble Outlaw into an invitation only event, The Machado Classic, where all the entry fees will be given to Jason as well.
This incident has made me do a lot of thinking. Seeing your best friend like that will change you. If it doesn’t than you’re not being real with yourself. Skating open roads has a high risk. The reward is great when you get to the bottom of a run, but make sure you do it with spotters, no matter what. We thought that since we hadn’t seen a car all day in that corner that we could hit it and have no worries. We were wrong, in 5 seconds everything changed. Make sure you ride to skate another day. Heal fast brother.

Just a few of the epic pics from Erick Barrandey photography at Gnarathon 3 in Waco, Texas.
After riding both sets of the new REY trucks I thought it was time to break down the differences between the two killer, Michigan made, affordable precision trucks.
We’ll start with how the two are setup for context of this review. Both have 45º basplates (one is the new REYvolver baseplate), 170mm hangers, 10mm axels, flat precision washers and barrel Venom bushings (80a roadside/88a boardside).
Next lets talk weight. Some people like more weight carrying them down the hill, while others are looking to keep their truck setup as light as possible. Weight breakdowns:
LiteREY hanger: 270g + LiteREY baseplate: 220g = 490g
DeathREY hanger: 258g + REYvolver baseplate: 156g = 314g
That’s a difference of 176 grams, which isn’t a lot, but if you are looking for any way to take weight off the DeathREY and REYvolver combination is much lighter than the LiteREY.
The weight was shaved off the hanger by cutting holes in it as well as taking off edges around the hanger. Also the DeathREY is not as wide or tall. You’ll notice that the axels on the DeathREY are higher and therefore closer to the baseplate giving them a lower profile. The bushing seats are also different. The LiteREY has a wider opening for mean lean, while the DeathREY has a narrower opening for more stability and a bit less turn.
When comparing the baseplates you can see a few changes right away. Again it is lower all the way around. Material was shaved away creating a larger opening between the pivot cup and kingpin. The new REYvolver also has more wheel base options and the most striking feature is that it looks like a revolver. REY has taken CNC cutting to an art form.
What does this all add up to? Depending on what type of riding you do REY has something to offer. Their new DeathREY hanger in combination with the REYvolver baseplate is super light and a fantastic combination for going fast. The LiteREY is also a great truck with mean lean but a bit beefier. They do not cut corners with quality or craftsmanship, only price. They want every rider to be able to ride their product, not just for wealthy and sponsored. If you are looking to step up from a cast truck to something more precise, check out: http://shop.reytrucks.com/
With the Marble Outlaw coming up we decided to film a little promo vid. It was a really fast day with a nice tailwind. Take a run with BC Longboards teammates: Jason Machado, Josh Hughes & Kyle Ramsey & BS homie Kavon Zamanian. Speeds for the day were in the upper 40’s and low 50’s. Prepare yourself for some fast gnarly racing. The corners are deceiving so taking a sick line is going to be key as well as drafting. Get stoked! Thanks for all the sponsors that have stepped forward to help us out on a short notice. Thanks to Kavon Zamanian and Gerrit Hoover for filming, driving and skating.
Sponsors: BC Longboards, REY Trucks, Bombsquad Longboarding, Skate[Slate], Metro Wheel Co., Buck Trucks, Daddies, Magic, Jati, Caden Castellini, F-Town, Waterloo & Carve Skate Shop.

Raw Run: https://vimeo.com/39340519
Marble is one of our classic runs that we hit on Boarder Crossing trips. It’s about 1.5mile run for almost 2 minutes (depending on where we put the start and finish). It’s got delicious black pave and curves for days. We’ve decided it’s time to have an Outlaw there and let others enjoy this hidden gem in East Oklahoma.
It has about 480feet of elevation change with the grade getting up to almost 11%. I’m not sure of the speeds yet, but any where from 30 at the top to 40 at the bottom. We plan on doing 4-6 man heats depending on how many show.
Obviously safety is a must, some peeps will probably be leather’d out, but you don’t have to have them. I’ll be posting things like maps and best place to park later on, but this is out in the middle of no where, so shouldn’t be too big of a problem. I’ve skated there for hours and never seen a car, it’s definitely back woods style. Hope we can get a lot of people out there and have another sick race in Oklahoma! GET STOKED!
If you are interested in trying to attend this personal message me and I will give you more details.
No names. Ripping on a chill weekday. Afterwards we went for a drift sess in the Sub on a private road. The owner chased us in his truck and then tried to punch the driver. We drove away just in time so he wasn’t able to get to us and punched the back window instead, no damage done. This 6ft tall country hick looked like he was going to kill us.
Skate safe & always have a good get away driver.
